This spider has been living above our door frame for over a year now, I drop a fresh fly in it's "web" from time to time. Short strands, nothing fancy. I just realized, this spider could be a brown recluse so I really should check! I think it's a southern house spider. It has white banding around its leg joints, and two white specs on some of the eyes. She's shy, I can't get a good look at her. She definitely hides in one spot, she very rarely moves and really only comes out at night, and doesn't travel more than a few inches. Here are some pictures, the best I could get with my cell.

I am absolute huge fan of spiders; they're my favorite animal. So it's no surprise that I get a little bit excited when I see one.

This particular spider looked like a black widow but did not have the red hourglass on the underside of its abdomen, so I assume that it is a steatoda spider. I was thinking about capturing it with a plastic container, it was right within reach so I could do so. Unfortunately, I shook the drawer where it had its little web in the corner and it retreated.

My preferred course of action was to simply capture it, potentially examine it and eventually set it free. But it made itself quite at home in the corner, tucked away inconspicuously. I later looked under the drawer and I saw a lot of little bugs that it caught including other spiders, bugs I'd rather not see roaming around.

What should I do with it? Is it okay to just leave it there; will it ever wander away from its web? Or is it a good idea to release it so it doesn't wander off and tuck itself in a undesirable area? I'd hate to force it to leave its home, and that large stash of bugs under the drawer is making me consider that it would be an okay idea to let it stay.

My main concern is whether it'll wander off or not. If it doesn't, that'll motivate me to let it stay. But I'm not sure if that's a good idea. What do you guys think?
