    Large brown spider near Chicago

I found a large brown spider, roughly 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter including the legs in my basement. I live about 10 miles southeast of Chicago across the border in Indiana and I have seen this type of spider in my home on numerous occasions including daytime and night and during all seasons. I suspected it might be a wolf spider, but it does not appear "hairy" at all. In case the pictures aren't clear, it appears mostly deep brown with the back and abdomen having a lighter brown or possibly tan color.

It is not aggressive and will sit for hours with me doing stuff nearby.

Please help me identify this spider.

The photo is a little dark, but the abdominal pattern and the shape/size of the spider reminds me strongly of the small Schizocosa Wolf spiders.

Perhaps a more experienced member will chime in...

I agree with the ID given by CrypticSpider, at least to family (Lycosidae).
