Help! what type of spider is this?

I found this spider in my kitchen with a web connected to a crack in a window to a wooden butcher block on may 1 2012. I live in central kentucky. The spider looks like a black widow but has a red stripe down the back. It looks exavtly like a redback spider but those are only in australia. No it is not. My cat plays with spiders and I was concerned that it may be venomous so I put it on a wood pile behind my garage.

Also it was a rather elaborate web that was spun in less than 12 hours if that helps at all.

I guess technically the spider was on the web, but it was as far away from the bulk of the web that it could be. It was on the very edge closer to the wooden butcher block than the suspended web. I was also dirtiest by how dense the web was as well.

I will also add that wight outside the windo that the spider cam in from, there are a million moths and insects because there is an out door light with a small wooden awing above it. It seems like a feast for a spider. Also it had become very warm where I live when I found the spider.
