    This appears to be a Jumping Spider of some sort, but I can't say the species. They are harmless, curious and quite entertaining.

    I agree, this is a jumping spider, probably a male "Bold Jumper," Phidippus audax, though one can't be certain from just this one image. NO jumping spider of any kind is considered to be dangerously venomous to people or pets. Notice the heavy, thick front legs, characteristic of jumping spiders.

    The only spider in your area that should legitimately concern you is the Northern Black Widow, Latrodectus variolus.
