I feel much better after reading up on the brown recluse actually. I think they get a bad rap much like sharks do from the media.

That's a good article. Here in coastal South Carolina, most people just accept as an article of faith that there are brown recluse spiders here. (I am embarrassed to admit that until a few years ago, I made the same assumption, even though I have never actually found a brown recluse.)

Not only are local physicians diagnosing people with brown recluse bites (even though we don't have brown recluses), but pets are being diagnosed by veterinarians. My landlord's dog was diagnosed with a brown recluse bite based on symptoms that are not even associated with these spiders.
