    Help identifying please

    Found this little guy in my hotel room in San Diego tonight. I don't think it's a recluse because of the markings on the abdomen. I couldn't find any solid resemblances in any images.

    This is a shot in the dark, but maybe the best match I could come up with, I'd suggest waiting for more opinions.
    Perhaps it is a male false widow spider...

    From what I can see, I agree with Whitlock that it is a male Steatoda spider.

    Thanks guys. I was only looking at the female species. Now that you point it out, it definitely looks like a male Steatoda.

    In some species of spiders, males and females differ greatly in appearance. Sometimes the differences are so striking that they don't even look like the same species.

    I concur, likely a male False Black Widow, Steatoda grossa.
