    Defiance, Missouri- May 14, 2012

    Found on my bedroom wall
    Evening, about 4mm
The lighting was terrible so I had to use flash, and so I hope you can somewhat tell what it is by the shape. I think it might be a juvenile spider? It crawls incredibly fast! Faster than a lot of spiders I have seen.

Hmmmm, after looking at some other people's recent posts, might this be a young type of Amaurobiidae? I apologize that the colors aren't quite accurate.

Actually, I take that back unless the spinnerets are more prominent on some of their species?

I think it's a ground spider (Gnaphosidae). They often have conspicuous, barrel-shaped spinnerets.

Hmm, I was actually thinking it looked a lot like a young parson spider, and it might be, but you can't tell from this picture unfortunately. Also it was wicked fast like one.

The parson spider is a type of ground spider, so we could both be right. :-)

I agree it is an Eastern Parson Spider. The glare of the flash makes it look pale.

That's what I meant Ungoliant. I saw that the parson spider was in the ground spider group, so I thought it could possibly be that. And yes, it was much darker than that.
