    Big Mexican Spider

This spider was in the rooftop deck bathroom in Sayulita, Nayirit, Mexico at the begining of April, 2012. I remember it being about 4 inches in diameter, brown and black. Does anyone know what it is?

    Thank you,

    Maria Eliza

    Hi, Maria Elizabeth:

Nice image of the "huntsman spider," Heteropoda venatoria. Despite their size they are not recognized as being dangerously venomous to people or pets. They are, in fact, valued as "mobile pest control" of cockroaches and other insects by tropical resort hotels and motels :-)

You are most welcome! I can't take credit for putting up the website, just for helping people who use it :-) We can thank Kyle Williams for the "behind-the-scenes" stuff that keeps it up and running.
