This is actually a northern black widow, Latrodectus variolus

would need to see ventral side and look at the hourglass to be sure.

LOL, when in doubt step back a taxonomic level. This was filed as Latrodectus sp. as the answer with the best level of certainty. 🙂

This is a Latrodectus mactans (Southern Black widow. Northern Black widows have the second red dot (from the cephalothorax up) wider then high.
