Comments & ID Thoughts

They get in my pool and are trapped in the skimmer basket. I rescue them daily. They can walk on water and can be submerged for hours, be seemingly dead and lifelessly floating with legs fully stretched out flat but when I set them in the pine needles they will come back to life after a few minutes.

A male wolf spider. While they can stay afloat, they will drown if stuck there too long.
You can scoop them out by hand and put them well into some brush.
Fishing spiders do take to water, even dive to avoid predators but can also navigate on the surface.
