Your observations are interesting. This is our first filed observation from Canada for genus Neoscona. She looks like an Arabesque Orbweaver. In the other photo there are flat black semicircles down her abdomen. They are the visual clue for this species.

She’s building a small orb web using the flowers, or just a partial one. She chose a perfect place to hide herself! The web might just be part of her sleeping retreat. Some orbweavers pull together several leaves or fold flower bracts or fern fronds. I like seeing photos of the creative retreats spiders make from what they find.
